It is called a Climate Café because it is an informal meeting that takes place on a monthly basis and is open to everyone of any age whether they are familiar with climate change or not but who are interested in its effects on the environment

It is called a Climate Café because it is an informal meeting that takes place on a monthly basis and is open to everyone of any age whether they are familiar with climate change or not but who are interested in its effects on the environment
People are welcome to come along, have a coffee or tea and chat to others about any concerns they have regarding issues with climate change. They can also support in whatever way they are comfortable: some people want to act, others want to help through group discussions, advice and information gathering

It is all about empowering and enabling people through the Climate Cafes to feel supported and encouraged to work together to make the changes needed to live more sustainable lifestyles. One person can make a difference - think of Greta Thunberg and the children and student's Climate Strikes - so imagine what we could achieve if lots of individuals came together to work on climate change issues

There are a few Climate Cafés now, Dunkeld and Birnam, Blairgowrie, Aberfeldy, Aberdeen, and the network continues to expand, the next one could be Perth, There are even some established in Australia and the USA. The Climate Café groups come together regularly for meetings and presentations too
Jess Pepper - a climate advocate and Climate Reality Mentor who is actively involved in community action on climate change, and worked for environmental NGO's incIuding WWF Scotland - is founder of the Climate Café movement and organised the world's first Climate Café about 5 years ago in Dunkeld and Birnam which is still going strong today
